As events continue to unfold on Twitter, I've decided that I will no longer be associating with the platform and will be working to remove my presence there in the not so distant future.
Twitter was sabotaged because it was a queer dominated space that empowered LGBT+, PoC, and other marginalized communities by unifying them. This union is a threat to white-dominated American capitalism and as such, it was targeted.
It's unclear what the future holds for Twitter and quite frankly, there's nothing any of us can do about it. What we can do though is something we've always done; support each other. No matter what platform we go to, I know it will be great because of how caring our communities are. There are many individuals who work hard and selflessly to see that others have a space in this world to belong and be accepted in.
This is why I've decided that I'm no longer going to dedicate my time on Twitter. If people are venturing out and seeking to create new spaces for our communities, I want to focus my attention on supporting them as well as the small spaces I've helped create.
