Hello and welcome to my first blog post! I'm pretty new to this and honestly, I'm not so great with social media but I wanted to try my best to start this blog off on the right foot with a proper introduction...
As mentioned elsewhere on the website, I go by Zen Fetcher. I am a self-taught artist and musician who's been involved in the furry fandom for over a decade. While I was born and raised in Kansas, I currently reside in California.
Ever since I was young, I was obsessed with cartoons. If I wasn't watching or attempting to draw them, I was probably off day dreaming about them. When I was 16, I discovered the furry fandom and began learning more about digital artwork. With all the resources and community support. I started posting and sharing the artwork I made and worked hard to improve.
Around the same time, I started to compose and make my own music. I had always loved music and played instruments ever since I was young, starting with the keyboard. As I grew older, I learned to play the trombone where I played for my school's band, jazz band, and pep band. I also went to numerous competitions to perform on the state level and placed 5th chair in the KMEA honor band. Having access to the school's drum kit, I also got a lot of practice playing the drums and ended up being one of the pep band's main drummers. For a short time, I even played in a local garage band and practiced playing the guitar. Eventually, I moved on and became a solo artist.
Amidst all of this, I managed to stumble across the furry fandom. One day while browsing for old animations I was fond of, I discovered something called a 'MUCK', or Multi-User Chat Kingdom. Not only was this a place for me to use my imagination in the form of roleplay, it also became where I met some of my best friends and learned of the fandom. From starting my account on Fur Affinity, attending various furry conventions over the years, and even owning my own fursuit, it's been quite a journey!
Introductions aside, I wanted to create this blog because I miss having a place to talk about things in length. While I could daisy-chain a bunch of Tweets together on Twitter, I find it's not very easy to read and no one wants their timeline spammed. So I looked for other options and started to set up a Tumblr account, just to have all the work I put into customizing my page undone because Tumblr though a picture of a cartoon mouse and trees were 'NSFW'. Ultimately, this lead me to the decision to create my own blog on my website.
So why did it take so long to make this first post?
The biggest problem I ran into when it came to having my own blog is what I want to talk about. Some of what I want to talk about contains personal experiences, sensitive subjects, and other mature matters. I spent a lot of time trying to find a way to make individual posts private but that is outside of what Wix's blog is capable of, so I'm still trying to find a way to go about things.
In the past it's been hard for me to open up about who I am, my life experiences, and feelings.. and that's something I hope to change. I hope to share some of my life experiences with you guys and heck, I'd be happy to hear back from you as well! If there's anything you're curious about, let me know! Who knows, I might do up a blog based on your question!
Thanks for reading!
